About me
I am a recent graduate from James Madison University. I graduated Cum Laude in May 2018. I'm earned a degree in Marketing with a concentration in European Business and a minor in political science. I am extremely interested in global business, and I have a passion for interacting with new cultures. Whether it be joining a traditional Bavarian folk dancing group in high school or exploring recipes from around the world in my kitchen, I love to embrace different ways of life.
In the fall of 2016, I studied abroad in Antwerp, Belgium, gaining my concentration in European Business. Working with international professors, all of whom were highly experienced in their field and industry, we were able to study the core areas of business with a global perspective. It was in Antwerp that I realized my passion for not only working in a global environment, but communicating cross-culturally.
Working at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in the summer of 2017 was my first experience in the professional world. As an IT intern, I was one of the first members of a new global team that represented a newly formed global department in Bayer. I utilized my marketing curriculum in branding efforts for this department, including creating an internal company website for the department, presentations that would be shown to top level executives and collaborative assessment sites that would be utilized globally across the company. Most importantly, I worked cross-culturally, collaborating with a team that was half located in Germany. I was able to refine my skills in working with people from various cultures and working through cultural barriers, while proving my ability to create media messages that overcome these cultural barriers.
In addition to utilizing my marketing skills, I was able to build a great deal of knowledge on the upcoming GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations), which goes into effect in May 2018. I was able to learn about, and become passionate about, the field of data security. I never guessed that I would be interested in data security and be tasked with creating an argument for its importance. What started as a work assignment turned into an actual interest in spreading awareness about keeping data secure in an increasingly digitized world.
Currently, I am the Operations and Special Projects Coordinator at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, located in Arlington, Virginia. The Chamber is a nonprofit membership organization, comprised of over 750 businesses in the community. Businesses and nonprofits join the Chamber for the benefits of membership, including networking opportunities, marketing, community engagement, educational opportunities, and to have a voice in advocacy for the business community. In my role, I work directly with members both logistically and personally, provide support for event coordination, and use my responsibilities to ensure each member of the Chamber is receiving full benefits of their membership.
